Dr. Mario E. Villarroel Lander

He was born in Caracas, capital city of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, on September 21st, 1947. He is married to Norka Sierraalta de Villarroel, Attorney-at-Law, and is the father of four children. He is a graduate in Law of the Central University of Venezuela and a Doctor of Laws in Criminal Science.

Mr. Villarroel is a Regular Professor of Penal Law at Santa Maria University, Caracas, Venezuela. He is President of the Institute of Historical Studies of Miranda, official institution dedicated to the study and diffusion of the ideas of the Founding Fathers of our nationality.

Mr. Villarroel is a member of different cultural, juridical and humanitarian organizations in Venezuela and abroad. He was President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and is the current President of the Venezuelan Society of Red Cross. Additionally, he has published diverse studies on legal, historical and humanitarian matters and has attended several events related to those areas, within and without Venezuela. He is an Attorney-at-Law who has developed an outstanding career in the Venezuelan legal profession in the field of humanitarian solidarity, he has represented the Venezuelan Red Cross in many opportunities. In 1967, he entered this prestigious institution founded in January 30th, 1895, as a volunteer and became National President for the first time in 1978. His work has been recognized nationally and internationally.

Dra. Norka Sierraalta de Villarroel

She was born in Coro, Falcon State, Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, on September 7th, 1947. She is married to Mario Villarroel Lander, Attorney-at-Law, and has four children. She is a graduate in Law of Santa Maria University (1969) and holds a Graduate Degree in Penal Law and Criminology of Andres Bello Catholic University.

Mrs. Sierraalta is a member of diverse cultural, juridical and humanitarian organizations in Venezuela and abroad. She is an attorney-at-law who has developed an outstanding career in the Venezuelan legal profession in the areas of Civil Law, more specifically, Family and Children-related affairs. Mrs. Sierraalta has attended numerous events in the scientific, juridical and historical fields and has published different studies on legal matters, in favor and defense of Venezuelan women.

Her professional and humanitarian work has earned her diverse distinctions from the Venezuelan Government and from many public and private institutions in Venezuela.
